Special Collections
Arthur J. Morris Law Library
Special Collections provides access to rare, historical and unique materials with an emphasis on Anglo-American law. The collection — including books, manuscripts, archival records and publications, faculty writing and photographs — are considered special because of their age, research value, rarity or fragility. The department aims to meet the research needs of the Law School faculty, administrators, students and alumni. We also welcome members of the UVA community and the scholarly community at large.
Archives & Manuscripts
We house a diverse collection of rare materials related to the history of law, the law school, and the University of Virginia. These collections include the papers of judges, law firms, faculty members, students, and law school publications.
Photograph Collections
Our photograph collection contains particularly compelling images pulled from our manuscript collections as well as a remarkably complete series of photographs cataloging the history of the law school.
Digital Collections
We are actively working to digitize our manuscript collections in order to make them more readily available to the research community and to assist in preserving the physical documents.
