Dear Ron:

It was good to hear your voice from London, and I am delighted that you will be on hand
when we arrive in the South of France.

I have now booked flights for Jan and me departing Dulles Airport, Washington, on
Thursday, June 8, via Air France to Paris. At DeGaulle Airport we change to Air Inter, flight 6189 to Marseille, arriving there at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9. I gather from our conversation that you would be able to be at the airport to meet us at that time.

We would then need to board our boat for the Rhone cruise on Saturday, June 10 at
Avignon. At the moment I do not know the precise hour, but I will find out. My guess is that we
should plan to board somewhere around mid-day or early afternoon.

Enclosed is the information about the tour. It would be grand to have you along. If you are
interested you should fill out the enclosed form and transmit it as soon as possible to the University of Virginia Alumni Association. It is my understanding that the tour is not yet full, although it is building up and could become full in the near future. Several law alumni are going along, including Justice George Cochran of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Dan Jordan, the head of Monticello, will also be along, as well as David McCullough, author of the Truman biography. The lecturer, Jennings Waggoner, is reputed to be a well informed, entertaining lecturer on Thomas Jefferson.

I will be back in touch as the time draws nearer. We do appreciate your offer of hospitality
and look forward to it, especially after all these years, with great anticipation.
